Proton is a Malaysian automobile manufacturer established in 1985. The company began as a national car project and initially worked with Mitsubishi, producing vehicles based on Mitsubishi technology and designs. Proton later expanded its own model range and became part of the DRB-Hicom group, while Geely acquired a stake in the company in 2017. Its vehicles are sold mainly in Malaysia and selected international markets.
