Rain Bird ESP-Me Irrigation Controller

The standard Rain Bird ESP-Me controller itself does not have built-in Wi-Fi; it requires the separate LNK Wi-Fi Module plugged into the top of the unit. Once the LNK module is installed, you can control the system remotely using the Rain Bird mobile app. This setup allows for real-time weather adjustments and remote schedule management from anywhere.

The base ESP-Me controller supports up to 4 zones, but it is highly modular and can be expanded to handle up to 13 zones. You achieve this expansion by simply snapping in additional 3-zone or 4-zone hot-swappable modules. This makes it an excellent choice for both small residential yards and large, complex landscape installations.

When paired with the LNK Wi-Fi module, the controller taps into local weather data to automatically skip watering cycles during rain or freezing temperatures. You can also manually initiate a rain delay from the app or the front panel dial. Additionally, it supports a physical rain sensor connection if local municipal codes require one.

The ESP-Me does not natively support Apple HomeKit, but it does offer integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant when using the LNK Wi-Fi module. This allows you to use voice commands to start or stop specific zones. For full smart home automation, many users integrate it via IFTTT (If This Then That) applets.
