Resident Evil 2 (2019)

Resident Evil 2 is a ground-up remake of the 1998 survival horror classic, not a simple remaster. It completely overhauls the game using Capcom's proprietary RE Engine, bringing the game into a modern third-person perspective. This shift makes the terrifying Raccoon City Police Department feel much more claustrophobic and immersive.

Players can choose to play as either rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy or college student Claire Redfield. The game features two separate campaigns that intersect at various points throughout the story. Their ultimate goal is to survive the zombie outbreak and uncover the secrets of the Umbrella Corporation.

You cannot permanently kill the Tyrant, commonly known as Mr. X, until the very end of the game. He acts as an unkillable stalker who relentlessly hunts the player throughout the Raccoon City Police Department. Shooting him in the head will temporarily stagger him, but he will quickly resume his pursuit.

The game was built using Capcom's proprietary RE Engine, which was first utilized for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. This engine allows for incredibly photorealistic lighting, fluid animations, and seamless loading times. The technology was crucial in updating the classic game's horror elements for modern consoles.
