Rip

description Rip Overview

Rip is a comic operetta by Robert Planquette, adapted from Washington Irving's tale of Rip Van Winkle. It opened at the Comedy Theatre in London in 1882 and was subsequently produced in Paris under the title Rip-Rip. The work places Irving's American folk story within the conventions of late 19th-century European operetta, combining spoken dialogue, romantic intrigue, comedy, and musical numbers.
