Rob Roy is a 1995 historical drama directed by Michael Caton-Jones and set in the Scottish Highlands during the early eighteenth century. Liam Neeson plays clan leader Robert Roy MacGregor, whose attempt to improve his community's fortunes draws him into conflict with the Marquess of Montrose and the swordsman Archibald Cunningham, played by Tim Roth. The film combines a fictionalized account of MacGregor's life with political intrigue, family drama, and sword combat.
