Robert Judet

Robert and Jean Judet replaced the damaged femoral head with an acrylic component rather than attempting to preserve unusable bone. Their first acrylic femoral-head replacement was performed in France in September 1946.

Letournel worked in Robert Judet’s service and collaborated with him on the anatomy, classification, and operative treatment of acetabular fractures. Their work established the anterior and posterior column concept used in the Judet-Letournel classification.

Judet views are two oblique pelvic radiographs used to evaluate the acetabulum’s columns and walls. They complement the standard anteroposterior view and remain associated with the fracture work of Robert Judet and Émile Letournel.
