Rocket Science is a 2007 American independent comedy-drama film written and directed by Jeffrey Blitz, marking his narrative feature debut after the Academy Award-nominated documentary Spellbound (2002). The film stars Reece Thompson as Hal Hefner, a New Jersey teenager with a stutter who is recruited into his high school's competitive policy debate team, with Anna Kendrick in one of her earliest feature film roles. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2007 to positive critical reception.
