help Rode PinMic FAQ
Is the RODE PinMic a wireless microphone system?
No. The PinMic is a wired, discreet lapel microphone that connects through RODE's MiCon system; it is not a Wireless GO II transmitter-and-receiver package.
How does the RODE PinMic attach without a visible clip?
Its capsule sits on the outside of the clothing while pins pass through the fabric to a backing plate. This keeps the mounting hardware less visible than a conventional lavalier clip.
Can the PinMic connect directly to a camera or wireless bodypack?
The microphone uses RODE's proprietary MiCon connector, so the required adapter depends on the camera input, recorder, or wireless transmitter. MiCon adapters were sold separately for systems from several manufacturers.
Is the RODE PinMic still in production?
RODE lists the PinMic as discontinued. Used buyers should confirm that the package includes the correct MiCon adapter, backing hardware, and cable because replacements may be harder to source.
