Rogelio Salmona

Rogelio Salmona was a highly influential Colombian architect noted for his masterful integration of red brick, water features, and sweeping curving forms. He popularized the use of exposed masonry as a primary artistic medium throughout Latin America.

His most iconic masterpiece is the Torres del Parque, a massive residential complex located in Bogotá, Colombia. The sweeping, circular brick design perfectly illustrates his signature style and remains a landmark of modern architecture.

Salmona designed and oversaw the construction of the Torres del Parque complex from 1965 to 1970. This specific time frame highlights the height of his career working within the urban landscape of Bogotá.

Salmona frequently used reflective pools, fountains, and flowing water channels to complement his heavy brick structures. This deliberate inclusion of water elements softened the rigid architecture and created serene, highly social public spaces.
