Rotanev

description Rotanev Overview

Rotanev, formally designated Beta Delphini, is the brightest star in the constellation Delphinus and a binary system of evolved F-type stars. The components orbit one another on a period of about 26.7 years and are too close to separate with the unaided eye, so the system appears as a single star of roughly fourth magnitude. Its unusual name first appeared in the Palermo Star Catalogue of 1814 and is “Venator” written backward. The companion star Sualocin, Alpha Delphini, was given a related reversed name.
