Ryne Sandberg is an American former professional baseball player who spent most of his Major League Baseball career as the Chicago Cubs' second baseman. He was a ten-time All-Star, won nine Gold Glove Awards and seven Silver Slugger Awards, and received the 1984 National League Most Valuable Player Award after combining power, speed, and defense at his position. Sandberg was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005.
