Sagamore Bridge

description Sagamore Bridge Overview

The Sagamore Bridge is a highway bridge carrying Route 6 across the Cape Cod Canal in Massachusetts. The present structure was built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers between 1933 and 1935 as a steel truss bridge with a suspended roadway, and it rises about 135 feet above the water to allow large vessels to pass beneath. It connects the mainland with Cape Cod and forms one of the canal's two principal road crossings.
