Sam Bats are manufactured by The Original Maple Bat Corporation, located in Ottawa, Ontario, in Canada. The company was founded by Sam Holman in 1997 after he began experimenting with making harder, more durable bats out of maple wood. The KB1 continues to be crafted by hand at this Canadian facility.

The KB1 features a distinct, massive, large-sized barrel with a noticeably flared knob. It is specifically designed as an end-loaded bat, meaning the weight is concentrated toward the barrel to maximize power upon impact. The Sam Bat KB1 is exclusively carved from premium Hard Rock Maple sourced from North American forests. Sam Holman pioneered the use of dense maple, which features tight grain lines that resist flaking and breaking much better than traditional white ash. To further enhance the durability of the wood, every KB1 undergoes Sam Bat's proprietary finishing and cupping process.
