Shugo Chara!

In Shugo Chara, the eggs are magical items called "Guardian Eggs" that represent a person's "would-be self" or their hidden dreams and desires. When protagonist Amu Hinamori wishes to show her true personality, she wakes up to find three colorful eggs in her bed. These eggs eventually hatch into tiny fairy-like companions called "Guardian Characters" who give her magical abilities.

Amu initially possesses three Guardian Characters: Ran (a cheerful cheerleader representing her athletic side), Miki (a cool and artistic character representing her creativity), and Su (a domestic and nurturing character). Later in the series, she unlocks a fourth egg containing a character named Dia, who represents her inner radiance. Each character allows Amu to perform a "Character Change."

The primary antagonists in the series are a corporation called Easter. Easter is a massive business conglomerate that seeks to find the "Embryo," a magical egg capable of granting any wish. They use corrupted children's eggs, called "X-Eggs," to search for the Embryo, putting them in direct conflict with Amu and the school Guardians.

The Shugo Chara! anime was produced by the studio Satelight. The series aired over three seasons, starting with the original 51-episode run in 2007. It is recognized as a prominent magical girl series from the late 2000s, heavily popularizing the "would-be self" concept for young audiences.
