Having been born a brindle ("Tora-ge" or tiger striped) Akita, Gin ("Silver", named after his fur color) is destined to become a successful bear-hunting dog. However, when he witnesses his father's death at the hands of the man-eating demon bear Akakabuto, he is chosen above his siblings to become his father's successor and defeat the monstrous bear that terrorizes his home village.
