Snowflake Copilot

description Snowflake Copilot Overview

Snowflake Copilot is an AI assistant integrated as a continuous extension within the Snowflake platform, designed to generate SQL queries and automate data analysis tasks directly from user prompts within Snowflake’s environment.

help Snowflake Copilot FAQ

Can Snowflake Copilot turn a plain-English request into SQL?

Yes. In Snowsight, Copilot can generate or revise Snowflake SQL from natural-language prompts while using the selected database objects as context.

Can Snowflake Copilot query tables across several schemas?

Not directly in its documented workflow. Snowflake says Copilot does not support cross-database or cross-schema queries, although a view can expose joined data through one supported context.

Does Snowflake Copilot automatically execute every SQL query it writes?

No. It proposes SQL in the Snowflake interface, allowing the user to inspect and edit it before execution, which matters because generated queries can still be incorrect.

Does Copilot ignore Snowflake role permissions?

No. Snowflake's role-based access controls still govern which objects and approved models a user can access, so Copilot does not grant permission to restricted tables.
