"Solarbabies" is a 1986 American science fiction film directed by Alan Johnson and produced by Brooksfilms, Mel Brooks's production company. Set in a drought-stricken future where an authoritarian Protectorate controls all water, it follows orphaned teenagers who escape their camp after one of them finds Bodhi, a glowing sentient orb, using their roller-skating team skills to evade pursuers. The cast includes Jason Patric, Jami Gertz, Lukas Haas, and Richard Jordan. The film performed poorly at the box office on release.
