description Sousaki solfatara Overview
The Sousaki solfatara is a geothermal area near Sousaki in Greece, at the western end of the volcanic zone associated with the Gulf of Corinth and the Saronic region. It contains fumaroles and altered ground where gases, including hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide, escape through fractures at relatively low temperatures. Although no historical eruption is recorded there, its continuing gas emissions indicate persistent hydrothermal activity beneath the surface.
