description Soybean looper Overview
The soybean looper, Chrysodeixis includens, is a noctuid moth found across the Americas and a recurring defoliating pest of soybean and other crops. Its green caterpillars move with a looping gait because they have fewer abdominal prolegs than many other moth larvae; they feed on leaf undersides and can spread through the plant canopy as damage increases. Adults are brown moths with a small silvery figure-eight mark on each forewing.
