Specialized Diverge E5

Despite the 'E' in its name, the Specialized Diverge E5 is not an electric bike; the E5 simply refers to Specialized's proprietary aluminum alloy frame. It is a purely mechanical gravel bike designed to offer a comfortable and stable ride. The aluminum frame keeps the cost down, making it a fantastic entry point into the world of gravel riding.

The Future Shock suspension system is uniquely placed in the steerer tube above the head tube, rather than in the fork itself. It absorbs bumps and vibrations by allowing the handlebars to move vertically up to 20mm without affecting the steering geometry. This dramatically reduces hand and arm fatigue on rough terrain.

The Diverge E5 features wide tire clearance, allowing you to run larger volume tires up to 700x42c or 650bx47b. Running larger tires at lower pressures increases the contact patch with the ground, providing superior traction on loose surfaces. This flexibility makes the bike highly adaptable to both paved roads and aggressive dirt trails.

The base model Specialized Diverge E5 typically comes equipped with mechanical disc brakes to keep the price affordable. However, stepping up to higher-tier Diverge models, like the E5 Elite, will often equip the bike with superior hydraulic disc brakes. Hydraulic brakes offer much better stopping power and modulation in wet, muddy gravel conditions.
