Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Watching the series provides vital context for Anakin Skywalker's fall to the dark side and his relationship with his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano. It expands on the Clone Wars conflict referenced in Episode III, making Anakin's betrayal by the Jedi Council feel much more justified. While not strictly required to understand the movie, it significantly deepens the emotional stakes.

The 2008 theatrical release and subsequent television series were created and directed by Dave Filoni. He had previously worked on the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. Filoni became a leading creative force at Lucasfilm, later developing The Mandalorian and Ahsoka.

The series originally aired on the Cartoon Network from 2008 until 2013. After Disney acquired Lucasfilm, the show was canceled, only to be revived for a final season on Disney Plus in 2020. The final season concluded the story arcs of Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex.

The character of Ahsoka Tano is voiced by actress Ashley Eckstein. She originated the role in the 2008 animated film and continued to voice the character through all seven seasons of the series. Eckstein's performance made Ahsoka one of the most beloved characters in the franchise.
