Stargirl

Stargirl is a television series centering on high school student Courtney Whitmore, who discovers a powerful cosmic staff. She uses the staff to establish herself as a superhero and lead a completely new iteration of the Justice Society of America.

Courtney discovers the powerful staff in the basement of her stepfather's home, realizing it originally belonged to the superhero Starman. She feels called to take up the mantle, inspiring a new generation of heroes to fight the Injustice Society.

While the show aired on The CW network and features crossover cameos, it primarily exists in its own distinct universe on Earth-2. Courtney Whitmore did briefly interact with characters from other CW shows during the Crisis on Infinite Earths television event.

The character of Courtney Whitmore was originally created for DC Comics in 1999 by writer Geoff Johns and artist Lee Moder. The television series adaptation was heavily influenced by Johns, who based the character on his real-life sister who died in the 1996 TWA Flight 800 explosion.
