Svante Arrhenius was a pioneer in physical chemistry, best known for his theory of electrolytic dissociation, which explains how salts dissociate into ions in solution. This work provided the basis for understanding acid-base reactions and electrochemistry. He also proposed the Arrhenius equation, which describes the temperature dependence of reaction rates, a fundamental concept in chemical kinetics. Additionally, he was one of the first to predict the greenhouse effect caused by carbon dioxide emissions.
