Swan Chair

The Swan Chair was designed by the prominent Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen in 1958. He specifically created the chair for the interior of the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, which he was also designing at the time.

The Swan Chair is notable for its completely curvaceous, organic form that is entirely devoid of any straight lines. Its seamless, three-dimensional curved shell was a massive technological achievement in furniture design during the late 1950s.

The original Swan Chair is manufactured by the Danish design company Fritz Hansen, which has produced the chair since its debut in 1958. Fritz Hansen continues to produce the chair today using modern polyurethane foam instead of the original synthetic material.

The very first Swan Chairs were custom-made for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, frequently referred to as the world's first designer hotel. They were originally placed in the hotel's lobby and the famous Egg Room.
