SWOT (Surface Water and Ocean Topography) is a satellite jointly developed by NASA and CNES, the French space agency, with contributions from the Canadian Space Agency and UK Space Agency. Launched on December 15, 2022, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, SWOT is designed to conduct the first global survey of Earth's surface water. The satellite uses interferometric radar altimetry to measure ocean surface topography and monitors water levels in lakes, rivers, and reservoirs worldwide.
