Table Shuffleboard

Players take turns sliding weighted pucks down a long, smooth wooden table, aiming for designated high-scoring zones at the opposite end. Points are only awarded if your puck remains on the board without falling into the alley.

Beyond simply aiming for the highest score zone, a key strategy is knocking your opponent's pucks off the board. Players frequently use their own pucks to bump rivals out of scoring positions, similar to the mechanics of curling.

The heavy playing pieces used in the game are most commonly referred to as pucks or weights. They are usually made of stainless steel and capped with plastic, allowing them to glide smoothly across the polished wood.

To reduce friction and allow the weights to glide effortlessly, tables are regularly sprinkled with shuffleboard wax, which is actually tiny beads of silicone. This powder is essential for achieving the long, smooth slides required for high scores.
