Teegarden's Star b

Teegarden's Star b is located approximately 12.5 light-years away from Earth. It orbits a very faint ultra-cool red dwarf star, making it one of our closest known potentially habitable exoplanetary neighbors.

The planet was discovered in 2019 by a research team led by Mathias Zechmeister at the University of Göttingen. They used the CARMENES spectrograph at the Calar Alto Observatory in Spain to detect the planet via radial velocity.

It is considered a potentially Earth-like planet because it orbits entirely within the habitable zone of its host star, where liquid water could theoretically exist. However, its star frequently emits dangerous flares, which could strip the planet's atmosphere.

It orbits Teegarden's Star, which is an ultra-cool M-type red dwarf. The star is so dim that it wasn't even discovered until 2003, despite being incredibly close to our own solar system.
