The Gathering Storm

"The Gathering Storm" is the twelfth novel in Robert Jordan's epic fantasy series "The Wheel of Time," published in 2009. It was completed by author Brandon Sanderson. Sanderson utilized extensive notes and drafts left by Jordan before his death in 2007.

Robert Jordan passed away before he could finish the final volume of his massive series. His widow, Harriet McDougal, selected Sanderson to finish the book using Jordan's detailed outlines. The project was so large that it was eventually split into three separate novels.

The novel focuses heavily on the internal struggles of Rand al'Thor as he descends into darkness and eventually finds redemption at the end of the book. It also features the dramatic Battle of the Maradon. Egwene al'Vere's storyline involves uniting the fractured White Tower.

The book is a massive tome, running roughly 800 pages depending on the edition and format. It is the first entry in the final trilogy that concludes the overarching "Wheel of Time" storyline. Fans were thrilled to finally read the climactic events Jordan had set up for decades.
