The Lost Boys

'The Lost Boys' was filmed primarily in Santa Cruz, California, which stood in for the fictional town of Santa Carla. The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk serves as a prominently featured location throughout the film. Santa Cruz had previously been used as a filming location for Hitchcock's 'Vertigo' (1958).

Joel Schumacher directed 'The Lost Boys,' which was released by Warner Bros. in 1987. Schumacher went on to direct 'Batman Forever' and 'Batman & Robin' later in the decade. 'The Lost Boys' is often cited as one of his most enduring films.

Two direct-to-video sequels were produced: 'Lost Boys: The Tribe' (2008) and 'Lost Boys: The Thirst' (2010), both featuring Corey Feldman reprising his role as Edgar Frog. A 'Lost Boys' reboot has been discussed by Warner Bros. for years but has not entered production. The original film also inspired a 1990s comic book continuation.

Gerard McMann's 'Cry Little Sister' serves as the film's haunting theme song, playing during key atmospheric sequences. The soundtrack also features tracks by Echo & the Bunnymen, INXS, and Lou Gramm. The soundtrack album became a cult favorite in its own right, closely associated with the late-1980s rock and goth aesthetic.
