The Parasol, also known as The Sunshade, is an oil painting by Francisco Goya completed in 1777 and now in the Museo del Prado in Madrid. Goya designed it as a full-scale tapestry cartoon for the Royal Tapestry Factory of Santa Bárbara, for use in the decoration of a royal residence. It shows a fashionably dressed young woman sheltered by a parasol held by a male companion, using bright color and controlled light to create an informal outdoor scene.
