The Summons is a 2002 legal thriller by John Grisham. Ray Atlee, a law professor, goes to Mississippi after his father asks him to discuss the family estate. When Ray finds his father dead, he also discovers more than three million dollars hidden in the house, money that is absent from the will. He investigates the fortune's source while realizing that another person knows it exists, combining a family inheritance dispute with legal and criminal suspense.
