THEMIS (Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms) is a NASA mission comprising five identical satellites launched on a single Delta II rocket in February 2007. The spacecraft orbit in formation to measure electric and magnetic fields and charged particles across near-Earth space, from the magnetotail through the radiation belts. Three probes maintain low orbits while two were later redirected to study the Moon's environment under the name ARTEMIS.
