Theodore Annemann

Theodore Annemann was a highly influential American mentalist and magician active in the early 20th century. He is best known for his groundbreaking work in the field of mentalism and his legendary book *Practical Mental Magic*.

Annemann was the editor of *The Jinx*, a highly influential magic periodical published from 1934 to 1941. The magazine featured new tricks, reviews, and essays that significantly shaped modern close-up magic and mentalism.

Annemann was famous for popularizing the dangerous "Bullet Catch" illusion, where a marked bullet is fired directly at the magician. He performed this terrifying stunt to massive audiences, often utilizing a rigged .22 rifle to ensure his safety.

Annemann tragically died by suicide on January 12, 1942, at the young age of 35. Despite his short life, his innovations and writings remain foundational texts for mentalists and magicians today.
