Thomas Addison (1793–1860) was an English physician who practiced at Guy's Hospital in London alongside Richard Bright and Thomas Hodgkin. In 1855 he published a monograph describing chronic disease of the suprarenal capsules, now known as Addison's disease, a primary adrenal insufficiency disorder. He also contributed early clinical descriptions of pernicious anemia, a condition later linked to vitamin B12 deficiency. Addison's systematic clinical observations at Guy's Hospital helped advance the understanding of endocrine and hematological diseases.
