Thornhill

description Thornhill Overview

Thornhill is a 2017 young adult novel by British author and illustrator Pam Smy. It combines diary entries written in 1982 by Mary, a lonely resident of the Thornhill Institute for Children, with wordless illustrated sequences following Ella, who moves near the abandoned building in 2017. The alternating forms gradually connect the two girls through themes of isolation, bullying, memory, and haunting, creating a hybrid of prose novel and graphic narrative.
