Tiger Bay

Tiger Bay stars John Mills as Police Superintendent Graham and features Hayley Mills in her first significant film role as a young girl who witnesses a crime. Horst Buchholz plays the sailor who commits the murder at the center of the story.

Tiger Bay was directed by J. Lee Thompson, who later went on to direct The Guns of Navarone (1961) and Cape Fear (1962). The film was produced by the British Rank Organisation.

Tiger Bay was Hayley Mills' first major film role, and her performance drew significant critical praise. She appeared alongside her real-life father John Mills, who played the police superintendent investigating the case.

Set in Cardiff's Tiger Bay district, the film follows a young Polish sailor who commits a murder and the young girl who witnesses it but befriends him rather than turning him in. The girl's father, a police superintendent, closes in on the suspect while his daughter tries to protect him.
