Tolomeo Table Lamp

The Tolomeo Table Lamp was designed by Italian architects Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina in 1987, not Verner Panton. It is manufactured by the prestigious Italian lighting company Artemide. The design won the prestigious Compasso d'Oro award for industrial design in 1989.

The exterior tension springs allow the Tolomeo lamp to be perfectly counterbalanced, enabling it to hold its position at any angle without drooping. This mechanism was heavily inspired by the classic balancing arms used in traditional drafting lamps. The springs provide a wide range of highly precise, adjustable light direction.

The classic Tolomeo Table Lamp was originally designed to use a standard E26 or E27 incandescent bulb. Modern iterations produced by Artemide feature built-in LED arrays to provide energy-efficient, cooler, and longer-lasting illumination.
