Tyrell Wellick's Obsession with Elliot

Tyrell sees Elliot as both a uniquely powerful hacker and someone capable of reshaping the world outside E Corp's hierarchy. His admiration becomes increasingly spiritual and delusional as he links Elliot to the Five/Nine attack and his own imagined destiny.

Tyrell encounters both sides of Elliot's behavior without initially understanding that Mr. Robot is an alternate identity modeled on Elliot's father. This uncertainty helps explain why Elliot can appear intimate and cooperative in one encounter, then frightened or hostile in another.

The series never establishes a conventional romantic relationship between them. Tyrell's declarations and fixation carry emotional and sometimes homoerotic subtext, but the plot frames the bond primarily through power, recognition, loneliness, and obsession.

Tyrell works with Mr. Robot and the Dark Army on Stage 2 while Elliot tries to prevent the plan from proceeding. The conflict culminates in Tyrell shooting Elliot, believing that Elliot had previously told him to stop anyone who interfered.
