Utsira Lighthouse is on Utsira island in Rogaland, Norway, about 18 kilometers west of Karmoy in the North Sea. The island is also home to one of Norway's oldest continuously operating weather stations.
Why does Utsira have two lighthouse towers?
Two matching towers were built between 1843 and 1844, and the first light was shown on August 15, 1844. One tower was later closed, making Utsira Norway's only remaining twin lighthouse station with one tower still operating.
