Van and Schenck was an American vaudeville singing duo consisting of Gus Van (1886-1944) and Joe Schenck (1891-1930), popular during the 1910s and 1920s. The duo was billed as 'The Pennant Winning Battery of Songland' and specialized in comic songs, novelty numbers, and popular tunes of the Tin Pan Alley era. They made numerous recordings for labels including Victor and Columbia, helping to popularize songs like 'A Good Man Is Hard to Find.' After Schenck's death from cancer in 1930, Van continued performing as a solo act and appeared in several Hollywood films.
