description Whistle SWITCH Overview
help Whistle SWITCH FAQ
Can a Whistle Switch still track a pet today?
No, the Whistle product line and its supporting service were discontinued after Whistle joined Tractive in 2025. Because Switch relied on the Whistle app and cellular service, the hardware cannot provide its original live-tracking functions by itself.
Why did the Whistle Switch require a subscription?
The tracker used assisted GPS and AT&T cellular connectivity to send a pet's location to the Whistle app. The subscription paid for that network connection as well as the associated location and health services.
What was distinctive about the Whistle Switch battery system?
Switch used replaceable battery modules so an owner could exchange a depleted battery instead of leaving the collar without a tracker during charging. That design was particularly useful for escape-prone pets needing continuous coverage.
Was the Whistle Switch a substitute for an implanted microchip?
No, Switch provided active GPS location and safe-zone alerts, while an implanted microchip stores identification that a vet or shelter must scan. Responsible owners generally treated the two systems as complementary rather than interchangeable.
