description Yildun Overview
Yildun, formally designated Delta Ursae Minoris, is a white A-type main-sequence star in the northern constellation Ursa Minor. It lies in the handle of the Little Dipper, not in the bowl, and has an apparent magnitude of about 4.4. At a distance of roughly 170 light-years, it is close to the north celestial pole compared with many bright stars, although it is not the pole star. Yildun can be seen without optical aid from a reasonably dark location and is useful for identifying the Little Dipper’s handle.
