Y&T - Black Tiger

Black Tiger was released in 1982 on A&M Records, following the band's major-label album 'Earthshaker' from 1981. The album was Y&T's fourth studio release and represented a continuation of their push into the mainstream hard rock market.

The title track 'Black Tiger' remains one of Y&T's most enduring songs and a staple of their live performances decades later. The album also includes 'Forever,' a power ballad that became one of the band's signature songs and helped define their melodic hard rock identity.

While Black Tiger did not achieve a major mainstream chart breakthrough, it was critically important in establishing Y&T's credibility within the early 1980s heavy metal and hard rock scene. The album strengthened their following in the San Francisco Bay Area circuit and set the stage for their later, more commercially oriented releases.

Dave Meniketti, Y&T's lead guitarist and vocalist, is the driving instrumental force on Black Tiger, delivering both the heavy riffs and melodic leads that defined the album's sound. Meniketti's guitar work and singing were central to Y&T's identity throughout their career and remain the most praised elements of the record.
