Raymond Collishaw was a Canadian fighter pilot who served in the Royal Naval Air Service during World War I, achieving 60 confirmed aerial victories. He is best known for commanding Black Flight, a highly successful squadron of Sopwith Triplanes that were painted black and named after various black birds. This unit was responsible for destroying dozens of enemy aircraft. Collishaw remained in military service through World War II, eventually retiring as an Air Vice-Marshal in the Royal Canadian Air Force.
