ROLI Seaboard GRAND Stage

Instead of standard plastic piano keys, the Seaboard features a continuous, rubberized, touch-sensitive surface that is entirely pressure-responsive. It allows musicians to manipulate pitch, volume, and effects in real-time by sliding their fingers horizontally or vertically across the keys. This mimics the nuanced expressive capabilities of a string instrument rather than a piano.

To properly process the multidimensional polyphonic expression (MPE) data, the Seaboard is heavily integrated with ROLI's proprietary Equator software synthesizer. Equator is specifically designed to map the keyboard's pressure, slide, and lift inputs to various sound parameters. It also connects seamlessly to major DAWs like Ableton Live via standard MIDI protocols.

The "Stage" model is designed primarily as a high-end controller for live performance, meaning it relies on connected software or hardware modules to generate sound. While it can store and recall custom software presets, it does not contain an internal sound engine like a traditional workstation keyboard. It must be connected to a computer or a sound module to produce audio.

Yes, the large-format layout includes the standard 88-key equivalent range, meaning you can play traditional piano pieces normally.
