NativLang covers language history, writing systems, reconstruction, pronunciation, and unusual grammatical features. Its animated videos have explored subjects ranging from Latin and Proto-Indo-European to Basque and Native American languages.

NativLang was created by Josh Lorente. His videos combine narration, maps, animated characters, and reconstructed language examples to explain linguistic history.

The channel is primarily about linguistics and language history, not a sequential course like Duolingo or Pimsleur. It can explain why a language developed certain sounds or structures, but it does not replace vocabulary and conversation practice.

Its videos draw on comparative linguistics, historical records, and scholarly reconstructions to illustrate earlier forms of speech. Reconstructed pronunciation is evidence-based but cannot be treated like a surviving audio recording of an ancient speaker.
