description Battle of Adys Overview
The Battle of Adys was a Roman victory over Carthage during the First Punic War, fought in late 256 BC near Adys in North Africa, generally identified with Oudna in modern Tunisia. A Roman army led by Marcus Atilius Regulus defeated Carthaginian forces commanded by Bostar, Hamilcar, and Hasdrubal after Rome established a foothold in Africa. The victory advanced the Roman invasion but did not end the war.
