description Bidar Fort Overview
Bidar Fort is a large fortification complex situated in Bidar, in the northern part of Karnataka on the Deccan Plateau of India. It served as the capital of the Bahmani Sultanate after the court relocated from Gulbarga in the mid-15th century under Ahmad Shah I. The fort complex contains palaces, mosques, audience halls, and other structures reflecting a synthesis of Persian and Deccani architectural traditions. It is enclosed by massive walls and a triple moat and is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India as a protected monument.
