Beep baseball

Beep baseball is an adaptive form of baseball designed specifically for blind and visually impaired athletes. Players use an audible ball that emits a constant beeping sound to track its location. The game allows visually impaired individuals to participate fully in a modified version of America's pastime.

In beep baseball, the pitcher and catcher are sighted and are on the same team as the visually impaired batter. The pitcher uses verbal cues to signal when the ball is about to be released, aiming to place the ball directly in the batter's strike zone. Once the ball is hit, the batter runs toward a buzzing base rather than running to first base.

Defensive players in beep baseball, who are all visually impaired, track the ball by listening to the electronic beeping sound it emits. There are six defensive players on the field, and they must field the ball before the batter reaches a base. If a defensive player successfully fields the ball, the batter is called out.

While there are no professional leagues, beep baseball is governed by the National Beep Baseball Association (NBBA), which organizes an annual World Series. The NBBA World Series features teams from across the United States and occasionally international competitors. The tournament is the highest level of competition for the sport.
