You should never dry clean or machine wash a Mackintosh bonded cotton coat, as the chemicals can ruin the waterproof bonding. Instead, it should be wiped clean with a damp cloth and occasionally re-waxed if it features a waxed cotton lining.

The coat features a classic tailored silhouette often including traditional trench details like a storm flap. However, it relies on the bonded cotton fabric rather than a heavy rubberized raincoat shell.

While the bonded cotton provides excellent protection from wind and rain, the coat is generally designed as a lightweight spring or fall outerwear piece. Its warmth is moderate, lacking the heavy insulation needed for extreme winter temperatures.
